Our Story
What started as a hobby and a way to make use of the family property in 2015 has grown into a full-fledged registered Black Angus operation.
Tim Knight and David Dean Jr. bought their first few cows from C.S. Fitzgerald, largely to keep 125 acres of Shenandoah Valley pasture in good order — and, of course, to put premium Black Angus in the freezer. The hobby grew quickly. They added a herd bull, began breeding their own heifers, and the operation has been building from registered stock ever since.
Today ISF Cattle Company runs a registered Black Angus herd on that same ground outside Elkton, Virginia, in cooperation with CSF Cattle Company of Raphine, VA.

The Land
125 Acres in the Valley
The herd runs on 125 acres of Shenandoah Valley ground outside Elkton. Pastures are rotated through the season to keep grass ahead of the cattle and the sod healthy through summer heat and winter wet.
Cattle are raised on that grass and finished on grain, which gives us consistent condition and performance without pushing them off the pasture that makes them.
